The Wooster Brick Run 2017

The 2016 Brick Run is in the books, but guess what....Flickinger Hill still isn't flat, so, we have a race to put on! Back in 2017--The Wooster Brick Run!

Since we still have access to some bricks, and we still have people that want to run it again, we figured, why not do it again? Year one of the "comeback" was a great success. Great sponsors, great food and GREAT runners. We are looking forward to making the Brick Run part of the rich, Wooster running tradition once again and helping local high school students achieve dreams at the next level as money from this race goes towards the Vertical Runner Scholarship Fund.

For many years, the Wooster Brick Run was considered the most popular running event in Wooster. Whether they started at Freelander Park, the YMCA or at the high school, one thing was for sure, if you finish, you got a Wooster Paver Brick. Early records indicate that the manufacturing of bricks in Wayne County began around 1872. The northwest corner of Wayne County contained large deposits of clay and shale, important for brick making. Most Wooster bricks were manufactured at a plant located at the corner of Bowman Street and Mechanicsburg Road. “Wooster Pavers,” were used as curb bricks. By the late 1960s the company had closed. Over the last 50 years, these collectible bricks have started to dwindle away, but some still remain-most of those that are in good condition are in the houses of the local runners who ran this back in the day. Well, not only did we find some, and in good condition...we're giving them away as awards-again in 2017!

The bricks will be awarded to the top 3 males, top 3 females, top overall male and female Masters(40-49), and top overall male and female Grandmasters(50+). All awards will be based off of finish time, regardless of starting time. Custom medals replicating the original Wooster Paver bricks will be given out to the first 200 registrants upon race completion. You will still have 3 ways to sign up:

Brick Run 25k (run only)- $10.00 thru 12/31/16, $15.00 in 2017 through race week

Brick Run and donation to the scholarship fund- $15.00 thru 12/31/16, $20.00 in 2017 through race week

Brick Run and donation to the scholarship fund with a Brooks podium long sleeve tech shirt- $30.00  thru 12/31/16, $35.00 in 2017 through race week

The race will start at 7:00am and continue on in waves every 15 minutes, all based off of your projected finish time which you will enter in at registration. No early starts!
