The Downtown RunAround

Imagine if the "Amazing Race,” a few Boys & Girls Club Staff, and your favorite yard games and puzzles got funky inside a snow globe.  That’s The Downtown RunAround!

Come and join in Wooster’s newest team event on May 18, 2018.  Gather a few of your friends, family, neighbors, and/or co-workers and build a team of 5-8 people to venture within an outdoor game zone that will cover a course no more than 10 to 12 blocks, making it easy for everyone, regardless of their physical conditioning to participate.

There are 3 divisions to choose from - Built for Speed (competitive), Leisurely Stroll (non-competitive), and Kids' Category (must have at least 2 children, ages 8-14 on the team). All events will start at 1:00pm and end at 4:00pm. 

During The Downtown RunAround, each team will be equipped with a Smart Phone, a bag of materials and an Adventure Guidebook as your team conquers The Downtown RunAround trying to score points, take on challenges and have fun while helping to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Wooster.  This, my friends is a mobile-phone scavenger hunt on steroids!

Traditional hunts equip you with a scavenger hunt list, a collection pack and a map of the venue or city. The Downtown RunAround sends you out with these staples as well as tools you use on a daily basis such as picture messaging, social media, video messaging, text messages, QR's and links to specific URL’s and blogs from Mission Control. Your team will be challenged to complete mental as well as physical tasks, to know your technology, and be able to strategize on how to best take advantage of your collective skills. Oh, by the way, you may want to watch out for our actors within the game zone.  At any time, ANYONE could be part of the action. That guy playing music at the square, the distraught runner in front of Vertical Runner, the lady running around dressed as Cleopatra? We put them there. Or did we?

Just like the reality show "The Amazing Race", teams will race through Wooster to solve puzzles, decipher clues, earn points and work together as a team to achieve ultimate team success. When all the events have been completed and all teams have returned, teams reconnect and, reflect upon their epic journey and celebrate their success and the joy of knowing that their Downtown RunAround helped to support the young people served by the Boys and Girls Club of Wooster.
